| | Theme song to: Bad Boys II | ] | I called in sick for the first time in a long time yesterday. I usually don't call in sick but I just couldn't get out of bed. The alarm clock was ringing like crazy since 7:20 am. I kept hitting the snooze button for over an hour. Finally, at 8:45 am, I called my boss to tell him that I wasn't going in. The conversation went something like this:
Me: Hello. Boss: Hello, this is Scott. Me: *in raspy voice* Hey Scott, it's Yi-Wen. I'm not feeling good today. I'm not coming in. Boss: You're not feeling good? What's wrong with you? Me: Yeah. I'm just not feeling good. I'm not coming in. Boss: *2 second pause, then sighs* Well, ok. Take care of yourself. Call me if you need help with anything. Me: OK. Thanks. *Click*
Hehe. I'm so bad. But seriously, I've been working a lot of hours lately with an average of only 4 hours of sleep per night for the last 4 nights. After my conversation with my boss, I fell back asleep until 3:30 in the afternoon. This equates to *drum roll, please* 14 HOURS OF SLEEP!!! hehe. Yup, yup. I went to sleep at 1:30 in the morning and slept til 3:30 in the afternoon. I know, I'm a pig. But hey, don't mess with me when I'm tired. I need my sleep.
Because of my overdosage of Medication Z's, I was wide awake until 5 the next morning. I know, I'm messed up. But it allowed me to catch up on some awesome rerun movies on cable. One of which is Bad Boys II. Yeah, baby! Will Smith is the man!
It's 12:30am right now. I don't plan to stay up too late tonight. But I have to write a 2 page paper for my buddy Shirish. He's in his last year of school. He hates writing papers and I somehow get suckered into helping him from time to time. But I don't mind too much. I need to check his syllabus to see what I am writing again. hehe.

I don't watch much TV anymore due to my busy schedule at work. Plus, I try to do more recreational activities so that I don't become a couch potato. However, I've always been a big fan of Superman since when I was a little boy. He's always been my hero. (Btw, I'm sad that Christopher Reeve is gone. We will all miss you.) I mean, Superman is the MAN. He can fly. He can beat up the bad guys. He is impenetrable by bullets. He has heat and x-ray visions. The guy can do it all! Anyway, this is my argument as to why Superman is better than Batman, Flash, Wonderwoman, DareDevil, Spiderman, and any other comic book superhero out there.
Anyway, the current rendition of Superman is in Smallville. This is the coolest show. This is one show that I cannot miss. You get to see Superman growing up and learning of his superpowers before he becomes the caped wonder. Plus, there are some hot babes in this show too. Two of which are Kristin Kreuk who plays Lana Lang and Erica Durance who plays Lois Lane. Damn, it's good to be you, Superman! |

| | blank | ] | I'm doing a sleep experiment. I normally sleep at around 2 or 3 in the morning. For whatever reason, I got home early last night and passed out at 8pm. I'm like passed out before all the moms and dads and grandmas and grandpas are sleeping!!! Anyway, I've been waking up late everyday and just feeling like sh*t. So, lets see how this new sleeping routine will last me. It's weird to wake up at 4 in the morning for a change. Kinda creepy. |

| | Hoobastank: The Reason | ] | Yay! Megan just came back from Japan last week. She was in Kyoto, Japan for like a month and a half cuz she was like teaching English (En-Grish) there or something. I love how Japanese speak English, especially when they try to pronounce a word with the letter 'l,' such as:
Cadillac = Ca-tarrac English = En-Grish Pollution = Po-rrusion Mallet = Ma-rrot Long Beach = Rong Beach (What?! Wrong Beach??!! hehe) I Love You = I Rub You *sigh*
Anyway, Megan is really cool. She has one of the most unbelievable voices I've ever heard. The last time we went karaokeing, she was singing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" and hit all the high notes dead on. Everyone in the bar was like "whoa."
I headed out to see her out in Canyon Lake on Saturday. For those of you who don't know, Canyon Lake is close to Temecula. Or Lake Elsinore. Or Tom's favorite place, Pachenga Casino. Hehe. It's like a 35 mile drive from my house. The drive is not bad. But it's what Megan's sister Meredith calls it "honky country." I was like the only Asian out there with all these white folks. But it was still good times. Welcome back Megan! |

| | Lil Flip feat. Lea: Sunshine | ] | It's been 4 years and 2 months now since I moved from the beautiful State of Hawaii to crazy Southern California. I have no regrets with coming here. I had a deep conversation with my friend Gilbert last night about living in these 2 places. I miss Hawaii very much. Not so much of the beautiful weather and the aloha spirit that you feel when you commute around the island. But I think of all the names and faces that have come and gone in my 20 years that I have spent there. Images were flashing in my mind of friends that I have left behind and miss very much. Quite a few of them I have grown up with from elementary school years to post-high school years. With that much time shared with friends, there's a certain bond that will never fade even though you haven't seen each other in years.
I think of my mom, my sister, and doggie. I left them behind mainly to grow up and find myself. Some things worked out. Some things didn't. I believe that I've grown professionally and financially in Cali where I probably would not have in Hawaii. There's a lot more opportunities for me to grab hold of here. But at the same time, I ask myself "is it worth it to be selfish and leave mom and sis on their own? Am I being selfish?" Being raised in a traditional Chinese family, a child normally does not leave home until at least after they are married. But I took the courageous step to move on on my own in search of a better life for myself.
To make matters more complicated, I've made many new friends and new "families" during my time here in California. What am I to do? I feel like both Hawaii AND Cali are my homes. I've told some close friends that ideally I would spend time in both places by going back and forth every other month. It's possible. I just need to buy a house in both Honolulu AND Orange County. hehe. |

| | tired | ] | *yawns* It's 3:54am right now. Another one of those sleepless nights. After discussion with some friends, I've decided to just type a few words in here. Not a lot of news here. However, I did go to 2 weddings in the last 2 months. Boy, am I getting old. Everyone around me is either getting married and/or having kids. *sighs a breath of depression* NOT! NO way am I depressed. Actually, I feel sorry for all y'all married suckers! ehhehehehe! |

| | pissed off | ] | OK...I know I haven't updated in a gazillion years. But I need to vent!! I'm sitting in my hotel room right now in Vegas. Viva Las Vegas! This was supposed to be a pleasant trip. Joe, Elina, and I arrived at the Alladin hotel on early Monday evening. It was a nice 3 hour drive in the 530i. Not too bad considering that we left Orange county at 3:30pm. We checked in. I got a nice room w/a nice tub to soak in. Spent 1 hour at the table and won $500. Had a nice sushi dinner. Then after din-din, I LOST THE $500 DOLLAR WINNINGS PLUS $1500!!!! AAAAAGHhhHH! Then tonight, I lost another $300!!! That's $2300 in the hole in a matter of 24 hours! aaaagghh!!! Although I'm pissed off as hell, I find this to be somewhat amusing and humorous. I might as well laugh at it now because I'll just end up laughing about it 6 months down the road, right??? grrrrrr! |

| | shocked | ] | For those of you who don't know me, I live in a 4 bedroom house in Orange County, CA. My landlord Tim is my roommate. He bought the house last year. His brother Tom and his wife live with us for now until they find a house. And their friend Fartcus has been staying with us also. Fartcus is a 23 year old African-American dude who grew up around Tom. They were like homies when Fartcus was in high school. They hung out together and played basketball together and partied together. Fartcus has been in Florida for the past 2 years for college and just came back earlier this summer to work. Since they are homies, Fartcus just stays with us in the extra room.
Just a few minutes ago, I walked downstairs to the kitchen to put my glass away. Enroute to the kitchen, I have to pass by the entrance to the family room. It's 3:45 in the morning and Fartcus is in there watching tv. I think nothing of it and just proceed to the kitchen. After putting my glass away to head back to my room, I stopped at the entrance to the family room to see this hung brotha slamming his thing into this chick on our 52" TV!!! Talk about special effects. So, I'm startled by what I see and proceed to go into the family room. Lo and behold, Fartcus, a 6'2 265 lb. African-American brotha living in the same house with a 5'9 185 lb. Chinaman, he's lying on the family couch with dick in his hand wacking off with the movie. I stood there, frozen for a minute. And I started busted out laughing!!!!! Fartcus saw me and lets go of his dick and pulls his pants up. I just pointed at him and laughed and walked away. He tried to hide it and play it cool and turned the TV back to ESPN. Little did he know that his dick was like busting out of his pants. Ouch!! My eyes!!! LOL! Dramas of living with roommates. *sigh*
For Fartcus' sake, good thing I'm not a picture whore like thebigdreamer and have caught this special Kodak Moment! ;-) |
